A case study on group theraplay for Asperger¡¯s disorder children

Abstract
This is a case study to investigate the change of children with group theraplay program. For the study, group theraplay program was applied focusing on emotional vitality for 6 year-old boys who had Asperger¡¯s disorder. The children participated in group theraplay once a week, total 16 times. At the same time, parents¡¯ group counselling was conducted 4 times. The construction of program consisted of relaxation activities(10 min.), attention activities(10 min.), the main activities(30 min.) and ending activities(10 min.). First, relaxation activities were organized focusing on movement, sensory activity and rhythm. Second, attention activities were constructed conforming to children¡¯s characters. The main activities were made up of taking a seat, calling the names, recognizing time and place and role?game?body?expression focused on emotional vitality. Therefore total 60 min. was spent for the program including ending activities. First, the result showed that emotional recognition was improved, and especially, they significantly improved in self-recognition, person recognition and expressing. Second, conversation with other children increased and they spent more time with people around them. Additionally, sociality was raised. Third, recognition was improved and especially, there was considerable improvement in attention ability and understanding.
